Lovely

In the mid 1700s the Lovely family were in Rand in Lincolnshire. George Loveley and Ann Toyn were married at the Parish Church of St. Oswald, Rand cum Fulnetby, Lincolnshire, on April 29th 1778. They had 9 children, including William, c.29 Jan 1797.

William (c.1797) m.at Baumber, Lincs. on 7 Aug.1815 to Elizabeth Hotchin (b.abt1796). They had at least 7 children including Isaac Hodgson Lovely c.Nov 1823 at Minting Lincs.

Isaac Hodgson Lovely(1823-1898) married 19 May 1846 at Horncastle, Lincs to Harriet Sissons(1826-1855). They had 5 children, including Mark Danderson Lovely b. March 1849 at Hatton, Lincs. (Isaac married again to Rebecca)

Mark Danderson Lovely, son of Isaac Lovely, married Hannah Mary (Known as Ann), daughter of John Oliver, at Hatfield Doncaster on 20 May, 1872.

Family research shows that Mark Danderson Lovely went to Canada in 1880/81 and remarried. The 1881 census for Canada has only 2 entries for Lovely, born in England: John Lovely b.1815 , married; Jane Lovely b.1817 England, married. They are living with the Mitchell family at Hamilton, Northumberland West, Ontario.

On checking the Ontario marriage and death registers the following is recorded:
Mark LOVELY born England in 1851 married 21/4/1881 Mary Anne BRYANS in Grey County, she was born in Ontario.
His parents: Isaac & Rebecca LOVELY
Her parents: James & Emily BRYANS
Mark LOVELY died 27/1/1911 in Dufferin (age or place of birth, not recorded).

In 1881 Ann Mary Lovely, Mark's first wife, was living at Lindholme, Hatfield, Doncaster. The census states she was a widow, born in 1852 in Belton, Lincolnshire. Living with her:

John H Lovely¹ married in May 1898 at Parish Church of St. Andrew, to Florence C. Maw (b.1872) Epworth.

Florence was the daughter of John Henry Maw (c.1844 at Parish Church of St. Andrew, Epworth); and Frances (Nee Kellett) Maw(b.1845 Thorne), in 1881 living at 93 High Street, Epworth and farming 8 acres.

 

Children:

John and Florence Lovely farmed at Hatfield Farm, Toad Lane, Brampton.
