Patrick

Francis Patrick was born in 1760 at Tankersley, Barnsley - the son of Samuel and Sarah, he married 1790 at Darfield, Barnsley to Betty Green (b.1765 Darfield dau of Wm.Green). Children:

 

Martha Patrick married m. 1795 Laughton en le Morthen to George Glossop.

Isaac Patrick Married on 25 SEP 1800 at Throapham to Elizabeth Piggott. In 1822 Isaac Patrick, was a Maltster, living at Brampton-en-le-Morthen. His son, Francis Patrick (bp 1801 Throapham), m Ann Hohmann 9 April 1829, by license, at Rotherham

Ann HOHMANN, bp 1803 Rotherham daughter of John Hohmann & Mary Brooksbank who m. by lic. 19 July 1801 at Rotherham. Ann's grandfather, John George HOHMANN patented a new machine for making marbles for children from various sorts of marbles and other substances. Source: 1788 Mechanic's Magazine.

Will of Francis Patrick of Brampton en le Morthen Parish of Treeton in the County of York. Farmer. Proved 18th August 1810:

Executors

Legatees

To his said Executors All his plate linen china and furniture.
Real and personal estate upon trust to take an inventory of all his Personal property call in all Debts and place the monies so received upon good security - and pay the interest and dividends as the said becomes payable.
Betty Patrick wife to apply the said towards the maintenance education and bringing up of ... and such other child or children living or that his wife may be expectant with at his death. Until his said children attain their ages of 21 years and when any of his said attain this age then give to such son or daughter such a sum of money as they think proper for his or her setting out in life - and when his said son Thomas attains the said age, divide the whole of his real and personal estates amongst the ? or ? of his said children or their lawful issue - deducting such sum or sums he or she may have received at the age of 21 or at any other period

Reserve of sufficient maintenance for his wife during her life, but if she marry again then such reserved sum is to go to his surviving sons or daughters or their issue - share and share alike.

Bankruptcy

In January 1831, I. F. Patrick and G. Patrick of Brampton-en-le-Morthen, maltsters, were declared bankrupt.

  2. Hannah Greaves of Brightside Bierlow, par Sheffield, Yks, widow of Benjamin Greaves, late of Brightside Bierlow victualler.
  3. George Tattershall of White Cross, par Darfield, Yks, farmer and Isaac Patrick of Stone, par Maltby, Yks, exors of Francis Patrick late of Brampton en le Morthen, par Treeton, farmer.

Recites - a mortgage of 1 October 1777 for 500 years by George Barlow of Masbrough, gent to John Dolphin of £120 plus interest.
an indenture of 30 January 1804 which recited that the mortgage had been repaid but no reassignment had been made and that John Dolphin had borrowed £200 from Benjamin Greaves.
George Tattershall had contracted to purchase the property from John Dolphin for £367 10s.

A messuage etc. at Brampton en le Morthen formerly in the possession of Richard Forster, James Brelsforth, William Chapman, John Dolphin and then John Law.
A close of (1 acre) adjoining, and a close of (3 acres 2 poles) formerly part of Brampton en le Morthen common both occupied by Isaac Patrick. All was purchased by John Dolphin from Nicholas and Joshua Sampson.

George Tattershall paid Hannah Greaves £200, who assigned her interest to George Tattershall.

George Tattershall paid John Dolphin, £167 10s.
