As early as 1419, there are references to an Inquisition at York and legal proceedings against Wm. Clement of Morthyng, yeoman, for breaking into the house of Alice, widow of Rob. Bynny at Ullay and stealing 12s., ending in outlawry.
In 1419/1420: An Inquisition at York and legal proceedings against William, son of of John Clement of Morthyng, yeoman, for breaking into house of Mr. Rob. Ragenyll, rector of Whistan, and stealing 3 silver bowls and 12 silver spoons, etc., ending in outlawry.
