Farming families in Ulley

There are currently four farming families in the village, the Longford's, Lovely's, Mozley's and Walkers. A century ago there were three times that many.
During the 1930s, Gladys Lovely delivered milk by pony and trap from Hatfield Farm at Brampton. After her marriage to John Revill Walker, they started a Dairy Herd in 1942 at Ulley Beeches. The dairy herd operation was moved to Townend Farm in 1947. During the 1960's Jacks three sons joined the family business.

The Walker family have farmed at Ulley and Brampton for 80 years. John Revil Walker, was the son of Walter Walker
born in 1875 at Treeton.
Walter Walker, an agricultural labourer, married Mary E. Revill, known as Polly, at Treeton on 14th November, 1899. At some stage they moved to Ulley. Mary Revill was from a farming family. Walter died on 31st August, 1953 and was buried at Ulley cemetery.
