Holy Trinity Church Ulley
In Norman times the township of Ulley was part of the parish of Treeton
There was no church in Ulley until 1851. Journeying to Treeton especially in winter, must have been an ordeal. In 1850 the Parliamentary Commission made the following recommendation to the Church Commissioners: 'We think fit that a church be built in Mr. Thomas *Lawd's Close, for Brampton, Ulley and all Morthen to resort to, to be annexed and made one parish, and divided from Treeton, the nearest being a mile and a half away from Treeton Church.'
It was not until 1852 that Holy Trinity Church was finally built, at the expense of Sir Charles Wood, who also built the parsonage and school. It is now in the diocese of Sheffield, in the Laughton Deanery.
Baptism registers from 1851 to date, marriage registers from 1852 to date and burial registers from 1851 to date are kept at the church.
There is a framed and glazed Illuminated Roll of Honour with Handwritten Inscription to commemorate those who lost their lives during World War 1:
OF YOUR CHARITY PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF THOSE FALLEN IN THE WAR. LORD ALL PITYING JESU BLEST. GRANT THEM THINE ETERNAL REST. (Followed by NAMES) REQUIESCANT IN PACE
Note: * Refers to Thomas Lord
