Out and About
Walks
Rotherham has over 400kms of public rights of way which pass through picturesque countryside and villages.
There are numerous possibilities for walkers, horseriders and cyclists to explore Rotherham's countryside.
Several leaflets are available from Rotherham Borough Council detailing Doorstep Walks.
Doorstep walk No 6 details a village walk from Ulley Country Park.
Doorstep walk No 7 offers a Farmland Trail around Ulley.
The majority of paths in these trails have only recently been made available to the public.
Through the Countryside Stewardship scheme local farmer Michael Longford and landowner Lord Halifax have opened up a little known area of the beautiful countryside around Ulley.
The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 places the local authority under a statutory duty to establish a Local Access Forum. The Forum will to be set up to provide independent guidance on rights of way issues and the opportunities for open air recreation in the borough.
